your skin is often times a part of the body that reflects how healthy you are on the inside. just because you have broken out skin doesn't necessarily mean you are sick, but it can mean that your diet, hormones, or something else is off balance.
women's health had a list on their website the other day of foods that help create healthier skin. now, i have battled with my skin for as long as i can remember, and i have seen so many lists that it's to the point i almost pass them over. however, i decided that maybe it would be fun to try out their list, just to see what my results were. here are the foods they posted, along with how they enhance your skin.
almonds: are considered seeds not nuts
contain vitamin E
vitamin E is an antioxidant
carrots: contains vitamin A
vitamin A helps prevent skin cancer
it can also help skin vitality
dark chocolate: (i hate dark chocolate, so i'm dreading this one)
also an antioxidant
reduces red spots
reduces skin roughness
flaxseeds: contains omega 3 fatty acids
anti-inflammatory
sprinkle the seeds in oatmeal or veggies
green tea: anti-inflammatory
can reverse side effects of sun damage
white tea can be used as a substitute
safflower oil: contains omega 6 fatty acides
ultimate moisturizer
allows water to better penetrate the skin
spinach: helps fight cancer
thought to possibly repair and maintain DNA
allows cells to renew themselves
fights/prevents wrinkles in skin
sweet potatoes: vitamin C
produces collagen
helps fight wrinkles
tomatoes: eliminates skin aging radicals caused by ultra violet rays
sun shielding elements
helps when heated up in food
